Design Process
My client was preparing to open her own salon after years of working as a stylist and wanted to create a brand that felt representative of both her identity and the welcoming environment she envisioned for the space. The name YOL Studio draws inspiration from her Mexican and Aztec heritage and the Nahuatl word yōllotl, meaning “heart,” reflecting her vision for the salon as a warm, calming, and welcoming space centered around haircare and community.
I took inspiration from the salon itself, incorporating its abundant greenery, heart imagery, and warm, inviting atmosphere into the initial mood board and logo sketches. After narrowing down the visual direction with the client, I developed and refined several logo iterations in Illustrator before bringing the final concept to life with her desired palette of gold and black.
From there, I expanded the identity into a complete brand kit, including typography, a color palette, brand guidelines, logo variations, mood board, and supporting visual elements.

Using the established brand identity, I designed and developed the Yol Studio website in Framer, creating Home, About, Stylists, and Contact pages. The goal was to give the salon a central digital home where clients could learn about the meaning behind Yol Studio, discover the independent stylists working within the space, and easily access each stylist’s individual booking platform.
I extended the visual identity into the digital experience by creating additional brand elements, including a logomark, favicon, and social preview, while carrying the typography, color palette, and visual language throughout the site. I also photographed the salon to create original imagery and developed individual profiles and bios to introduce each stylist and their services.
The final website is responsive and intuitive across devices, with a clear user experience that helps clients find the right stylist and move seamlessly from discovering the salon to booking an appointment. Built in Framer, the site is also structured to be easily managed and updated as the salon continues to grow.

Social Media
As an additional extension of the brand, I created short-form social content, which was shared across the salon’s social media to further introduce its visual identity and digital presence.
